About Alissa Brooks

I tutor elementary, middle, and high school students in all subject areas, as well as work with pre-K and Kindergarten students on phonics, letters, number sense, and building their foundation for learning. I have been a teacher for the last 16+ years, and I specialize in math, reading, and writing. I help students as an educator, life coach and mentor; aiding them in all aspects of education and life skills. I equip my students with the necessary skills to problem solve, stay organized, be proactive, a self-motivator, and how to study/prepare for tests and quizzes. My philosophy is, 'I am not here to just teach my students about academics, but how to be better people in society'.

Alissa Brooks

"Alissa Brooks was my daughter's 4th grade teacher. She was pivotal in both my life and my daughter's life in a very trying season of parenting. My daughter was struggling with severe anxiety. Not even sure at the time we all knew how severe it really was. Despite the difficulties, Ms. Brooks invited, warmly received, added humor, and accepted my girl right where she was at. Ms. Brooks pursued finding the right tools to teach her math skills; so very patient with the process. She really was not just advocating for her, but helping her reach her potential. She didn't do that for just my daughter either. I assisted on an overnight field trip with the class and her ability to include all students and get them to engage was brilliant! She really was like a second mom to her students. I saw it, knew it, and felt it. Her classroom was a safe environment for all. She led the school play and continued to pour energy and enthusiasm to all of the students and parents. She called out potential in all of her students. I saw my anxious girl thrive on the stage, and I know it is because Ms. Brooks believed in her. I am so thankful to share a season in my life with Alissa Brooks. She made parenting an anxious girl brighter and lighter. I know my daughter would say Ms. Brooks was funny, memorable and kind! As a parent/friend I know she made a difference to our family and for that we will always be grateful."

"Alissa! All on her own, before even seeing this from you, Sarah literally just shared yesterday that you, Ms. Brooks, are her favorite teacher of all time. She says you helped to build her character by caring about her and getting to know her as an individual person. She felt cared about and cared for by you in the classroom and in the theater. You also continue to bring joy to our family time, even today, as the girls remember your fun personality and encouraging teaching moments. I honestly was going to write to let you know this yesterday!"

"You ate lunch with me and helped me realize that food is something my body needs. You gave me advice without sugarcoating anything. You’re honest and straightforward. You were yourself with me and were able to speak very inspiring things into my life. Because of you, and many other strong women in my life, I now believe in my own strength and beauty even when I pay more attention to my imperfections. You’re one of the reasons I am still alive today."

"Ms. Brooks always made class fun and interesting. My daughter was so engaged and interested. Absolutely loved Ms. Brooks as her 4th grade teacher. As a parent, we were so blessed by Ms. Brooks giving extra time after class to help my daughter with math. She helped facilitate math camp during the summer which was awesome. She is an extremely dedicated teacher and we are so thankful to have had her in our life."

"Hello!

Alissa Brooks is an amazing educator and friend! We met in 2018 when we worked at an Elementary School in Boca Raton. Alissa has been a teacher for 15 years and her love for her students and wanting to help them is very apparent. She is strong, and courageous with a good balance of growing and introspecting within herself. She goes after what she believes in, follows her heart, and it's easy to see how passionate she is about educating children.

I would visit Alissa in her classroom while she was teaching her 4th grade students, and one of the lessons I had the privilege of walking in on, she was teaching the kids about the continents and how they used to be one super continent – Pangaea. Her lesson was innovative and her students were very engaged. They gathered around her in the front of the room, and not only did they seem like they were enjoying the lesson but everyone was involved and participating, including myself! You could tell they wanted to hear and learn more from her.

The best thing about Alissa is she is passionate and wants to make a difference in the lives of her students. Her teaching style is the perfect balance of being relaxed and fun, as well as informative and effective. Alissa is a hard, dedicated worker that goes the extra mile. She arrives early, and stays late all because of her love and passion for education and teaching children. Alissa Brooks is an EXCELLENT educator and an AMAZING Tutor!"
